Pharoah was one of the more modest Adirondack peaks but was a popular hike and climb for Grandpa, Grandma, and their guests. It was the first thing they saw when they awoke in the morning and looked across the lake. Pharoah, for me, was “my” mountain always there, perfectly framed by the surrounding hills, with Schroon Lake below. I found the timeless, constant presence of Pharaoh comforting.
